As we begin to pack up our bags and journey to the next city, it is important to look back at what Adelaide has provided to us.
The Kangaroo Island tour was unbelievable to say the least. I truly believe we will not find the fantastic views that we found on that trip for the rest of the time in Australia. Some of the pictures I took will not do justice for what was experienced on the island.
Although it took a bus, a ferry ride, and more buses to complete the experience, I can happily say it was all worth it. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to be less then 10 meters from a Kangaroo, an Australian Sea Lion, and a Koala bear.
The views on the island were breathe taking to say the least, along with experiencing Admirals Arch was completely unheard of.
When we were traveling to the island I was expecting big open fields of thousands of kangaroo’s and that was the complete opposite of what we experienced. Kevin, the tour guide, taught us a lot about the history of the island and the people that inhabit it. I was caught off guard when he told us only 4600 people live on the island. I would love to travel back to the island someday to experience some of the other amenities that the island has to offer.
The National Wine Center of Australia was another experience that I did not know what to expect beforehand. I am not a huge advocate for wine, but being able to learn more about it and try some samples were an interesting experience. The building that it is housed in is absolutely stunning. Also the interactive learning aids were a cool way to learn more about process of how wine is created and the history behind it. I wish I were able to create my own wine on one of the interactive displays.
When we finally were able to try some samples I found the white wine to be my favorite and the red wine to be my least favorite. I can say that the wine that Deanna made me try before we left was the best tasting wine I have ever had. I would love to do a winery tour in the future.
As we wrap up our time in Adelaide it has been an amazing first city to be able to explore. I have learned so much about the Australian culture even though it has been such a short amount of time. At the same time I am looking forward to journeying to the larger cities of Melbourne and Sydney to see what they have to offer.
