Overall, I had an amazing time in Adelaide! The city was not what I expected it to be, but nonetheless, I had a great time exploring and finding out what it has to offer!
The Kangaroo Island tour was definitely the highlight of Adelaide for me. I absolutely love boats and the ocean, so the initial ferry ride over started my day off well. As soon as we docked on Kangaroo Island, I was thoroughly amazed by the fact that people actually lived and worked there. I am from a small town in Vermont, so it wasn’t too far-fetched for me to understand that people grew up in that environment, but being a 45-minute ferry ride from the mainland would be difficult even for me!
While on the tour, we saw wildlife like seals, kangaroos, and even koala bears. Throughout the tour, the views were spectacular. From beautiful ocean scenery, to the Remarkable Rocks, there was never a shortage of things to look at. By the time we got home I was thoroughly exhausted, but it was so worth it.
We were able to sleep in the next day, so I took advantage of that and caught up on some rest. The Australian National Wine Center was next on our list of places to see, and it was amazing! Having worked as a cocktail waitress for several years, I appreciate the knowledge surrounding different wines and their heritage. Not only were we able to taste different wines, but we also learned about what wines were produced in South Australia and how these wines are made.
This visit was a perfect way to finish out our time in Adelaide, as it was both fun and educational. Overall, I very much enjoyed our time in Adelaide, but I am ready to continue our journey on to Melbourne and find out what adventures are in store for us there!
